The most prevalent question that has been on the table is that of when. A date inscribed in stone is what we need. It is true that we will not be capable of actually carrying this out until the spring but we need to figure this out for planning purposes. We have speculated about holding the first clean up effort on Earth Day which not only seems appropriate but also may be a time were people will be more willing if we appeal to them to volunteer. Once we decide on the date for the first launch day we can plan the dates for things we have to do prior so we can be ready for that day. For example, we can plan the date to start getting volunteers. We do not want to do it too early for fear that the popularity of the project could die down. We need to decide how much earlier than the launch date will be the optimal time to do this. That will tell us the best time to get the supplies we need. The date dilemma is the one that we need to surmount as of now. If anyone has suggestions they can comment and we will seriously consider them and appreciate their thoughts.

The project is proceeding smoothly. I'm focusing on thinking of the best way to get volunteers. Principle Hamka suggested doing a video with the TV crew at south and showing it on announcements. I have to devise a plan to create one and I need to contact the TV crew and set up the time to take the video. I think the best way is to do an informative segment and not skit. I want people to take this seriously and realize how they can help. I need to give information that explains what we are doing but is short and to the point. It needs to be powerful enough to make people want to help. This is going to be a very big part of the project because this whole thing depends on volunteers. Without volunteers this project will be a failure it's imaprative that I do a good job.

The goal this year for my 20 time project is not just to get the grade but more importantly, to help others and the community. I am doing it with two friends. The over all plan is to acquire lots on the border of Grosse Pointe and Detroit, then clean them and plant trees or something along those lines. To do this we have already filed for a new, non-profit, charity organization. It's name is TWD or Together We are Detroit. We are getting volunteers from different schools by getting representatives from each. We are meeting with principles to explain it to them, get permission, and discuss ways to acquire volunteers at their school. We are also in the process currently to get land grants from the city for the lots. It will be time consuming but in the end I believe we will succeed and It will contribute to the betterment of our community.
